Tekst i flukt — Kaveh Ayreek in conversation at Kapittel
Saturday, September 19 · 14:00–14:45 · 2nd floor, Voksen, Sølvberget, Stavanger. Under Taliban rule, ethnic minorities and intellectuals in Afghanistan face systematic persecution. Poet and researcher Tahmasbi Khorasani — now an ICORN writer in Stavanger — and Kaveh Ayreek, ICORN writer in Bergen, join translator and poet Johanne Fronth-Nygren to talk about the situation in Afghanistan and read excerpts from their work in Dari, alongside new Norwegian translations by Christoffer Peder-Ellefsen and Mohammad M. Izadi. Presented with the Norwegian Association of Literary Translators, part of Kapittel — Stavanger International Festival of Literature and Freedom of Expression (September 16–20, 2026).

Filosofisk hjørne: The Idea of Human Dignity as an Artistic Project

Fatima and Kaveh Ayreek — the artist couple who founded the Mime Theatre Group in Kabul in 2013 — talk about bodily autonomy, individual freedom, and Hazara persecution through their figurative theatre work, and their continued humanist practice since relocating to Norway in December 2021. Fødsel i nullpunktet — sold-out run in Bergen
Four sold-out performances of Fødsel i nullpunktet (Birth at Ground Zero) at Fana og Ytrebygda kulturkontor, Nesttun — Friday 22 and Saturday 23 August. The puppet theatre production follows a woman in Afghanistan caught between darkness and light, holding onto life, dance, love, and her child amid war, prejudice, and discrimination.

Kaveh Ayreek's play La Valise Vide (translated from Dari by Guilda Chahverdi, Éditions L'Espace d'un Instant, 2022) is now catalogued in the Maison Antoine Vitez library of translated drama — twelve scenes and six characters across two generations, following Hamid and Maryam as they return to an Afghanistan transformed by decades of conflict.

Stille by looks at the situation for women and girls in Afghanistan after the Taliban's takeover — the courage of women who protested in the streets after the fall, and the arrests, torture, and death they faced in return. Created by Fatima and Kaveh Ayreek with Jan Holden of Dukketeaterverkstedet, combining puppet theatre and live performance. Stille by — world premiere in Tønsberg
Sunday, January 28 · Papirhuset Teater, Tønsberg — part of Figurfestspillene i Tønsberg, marking the production's world premiere. Blending live acting and figure theatre, Stille by follows a girls' volleyball team in a remote Afghan city who protest publicly after the Taliban's takeover, and face arrest, torture, and disappearance — giving voice to women who have none.
